Five Years!

It is Five years ago, almost to the day, that I changed my eating habits. Over one weekend! On the Friday, I decided to follow a Paleo diet plan, on the Sunday I decided that I would start with a month of the Whole30. By Monday morning, the pantry was empty of all non-paleo foods and I had begun the Whole30 diet. I hadn’t even read the book at that point – I was just following the Whole30 food template from the website. I haven’t looked back.

This all came about because a few weeks earlier I had been visiting my friend’s house, and I’d picked up a book about Paleo… Oh this is what Paleo is! (ie not lots of expensive sweet food made from almond flour and coconut oil). That gave me a seed of an idea. That seed then grew.

Recently I have been thinking about this: My friend has an ever-growing amount of books in her house, but over the last ten years I have actually reduced the amount of books in my house. You are unlikely to know what I’m reading unless you browse my kindle – and how often do you pick up and open someone else’s Kindle? How rude would that be?  So, if you visited my house, you would have no idea of what books have been influencing my life… or of what my current interests are. With this in mind, I have decided to make an effort to bypass the e-book option and buy the actual book.

So the above photograph is a selection of recent books.

I  also have nine Paleo books on my kindle and I did think about listing them here, but (after giving it some thought) the only one I wish I had as an actual book is “It Starts with Food”  by Dallas Hartwig and Melissa Hartwig. Maybe I should buy myself a copy.
